How to soothe the savage hunger

Being on a diet or trying to change eating habits is never an easy task. Sometimes hunger likes to strike when you least expect it. This article will tell you how to overcome those moments of weakness by replacing food with other alternatives, when all you need is a little boost to hold you until the next meal.

Drink water. When you feel really hungry, drink two tall glasses of cold water before eating. People often confuse the feeling of being hungry with thirst. Sometimes after drinking water you might not even feel hungry anymore. Even if you still feel hungry, you would more likely eat a lot less after drinking water. You’ll look younger when your skin is properly hydrated. Water helps to replenish skin tissues, moisturizes skin and increases skin elasticity, reduces the risks of bladder cancer and colon cancer. Water is used by the body to help flush out toxins. If your body lacks water, your heart and the rest of the organs need to work harder to pump out the oxygenated blood to all cells. Your organs feel exhausted and so do you.

Drink tea. Not only is tea calorie free, but also it is full of antioxidants, which help to prevent all kinds of diseases. It also boost your metabolism, although don’t expect to see results just from drinking it. Green tea has a lot less caffeine than coffee, that’s why it’s safe to drink for people with high blood pressure. It is also very relaxing after a stressful day. You should make drinking tea one of your new healthy habits. Experiment a little and find the flavor and type you enjoy the most. My favorites are jasmine and peppermint. Try to get it at a teashop where it’s sold by weight, because it’s more natural, than buying it at a supermarket in tea bags.

Drink coffee. Just like tea, coffee has a lot of antioxidants, which help prevent or fight diseases. It also has caffeine, which activates happiness hormones and will give you that uplifting feeling. I wouldn’t recommend drinking more than one cup a day, because overdose of caffeine can lead to increased blood pressure, insomnia and anxiety.
